tuesday 20th session

well as i was only there for half the class what i found was interesting was the mind map. i never thought about taking it to the next step and getting the students to link them together and explain why. well i tried with my leason on weather boards and it took them a while to get their heads around it but in the end they found some interesting links. now the dumb thing is i never took pics of the work and i am pissed about it
as for the guest speaker well i found it rather left field in that i dont think from my understanding of it , it had nothing to do with course design maybe i was on a different wave length who knows

  1. Dean's story on the value of reflection and questioning made me think about my own course design and delivery. It made me wonder how much I give the answers to questions the course answers, instead of providing time for students to come up with the question themselves. You are experimenting with getting the students to find the answers and finding that successful - how would it be if you got them to come up with the questions as well? How could you do this?

  2. funny tou should mention that. i have been thinking about giving them a answer and get them to try and write a question for it. not sure really will think about it a bit more and try it

  3. oh nice! would love to hear how that goes! I've used Question Dice as a way of getting students to question, too - do you know that one? It's not as focused as what you are proposing but just another idea.

  4. yes i know it is not as focussed but it gives the students a different way to learn instead of hearing me and trust me that is not a good thing every day. i like to take risk and then go back if they fail to try again
